NOTICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW MEETING
The Federal Transit Administration and the San Francisco Bay Area Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA) have prepared an Environmental Impact Report/ Environmental Impact Statement (EIR/S) for the proposed construction of a ferry terminal along the Berkeley/Albany waterfront. The project would link the San Francisco ferry terminal with communities in the East Bay and serve commuters, visitors, and recreational users who desire an alternative way to cross San Francisco Bay to access nearby employment, entertainment, and recreational destinations. The EIS will be prepared in accordance with section 102(2)C of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) and pursuant to the Council on the Environmental Quality's regulations (40 CFR parts 1500-08) as well as provisions of the recently enacted Safe, Accountable, Flexible Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU). The document will be available for viewing at www.watertransit.org as well as the Berkeley Central Library, 2090 Kittredge, Berkeley, CA 94704 and the Albany Library, 1247 Marin Ave, Albany, CA 94706.
In addition, WETA will hold a PUBLIC COMMENT MEETING to receive oral comments to assist WETA in reviewing the proposed project's environmental impact analysis and information contained in the EIR. The public scoping meeting will be held on November 18 at the North Berkeley Senior Center, 1901 Hearst Avenue, Berkeley CA 94709. Written comments will also be accepted at this meeting and until the close of business on December 31, 2008. The meeting will be accessible to persons with disabilities. NOTICE OF PROPOSED ANNUAL OVERALL DISADVANTAGED BUSINESS ENTERPRISE GOALS FOR FY 2008/2009
The Board of Directors of the San Francisco Bay Area Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA) announces its proposed annual overall goal for the participation of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises in contracting opportunities that are budgeted to receive federal financial assistance from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The WETA's overall annual goal for the period beginning July 1, 2008 and ending June 30, 2009 is 22% of the federal financial assistance in DOT-assisted contracts. This overall goal is broken into 100% race-neutral and 0% race-conscious components. Information on the development of the proposed goals and their rationale is available for inspection from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the San Francisco Bay Area Water Emergency Transportation, Pier 9, The Embarcadero, Suite 111, and San Francisco, CA 94111 for 30 days following the date of this notice. Comments will be accepted on the goals for 45 days from the date of this notice. NOTICE OF INTENT TO ADOPT A MITIGATED NEGATIVE DECLARATION
Notice is herby given that The Water Emergency Transportation Authority has completed an initial
study and proposed a Mitigated Negative Declaration pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act of 1970 for the project described below.
Project Title: Pier 9 Layover Ferry Berth Facility
Project Description: The proposed project is to construct Layover Berths for two (2) San Francisco Bay Area Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA) ferry boats alongside the northern apron of Pier 9, adjacent to the WETA Administrative Offices. Pier 9 is located on The Embarcadero at Vallejo Street. The Layover Berths will be used to hold out-of-service ferries when existing terminal berths cannot be used to hold the ferries. Two berths are proposed for the WETA's 118' Catamaran Ferry. The layover berths are not intended to be used for passenger service.
